George Soros Emerges as Major Funder of ‘Global Climate Strike’ Groups

Breitbart bring news of an investigation by MRC Business into the funding of the Global Climate Strike campaign:
George Soros financed radical environmental groups partnering in this week’s “Global Climate Strike” to the tune of nearly $25 million, according to a new report.
At least 22 of the left-wing activist groups listed as partners in the Global Climate Strike received $24,854,592 in funding from liberal billionaire George Soros between 2000-2017 through his Open Society Network, Joseph Vazquez reported Thursday for the Media Research Center.
Though ostensibly ignited by the protests of 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, the Global Climate Strike has borne from the outset the indelible fingerprints of well-funded, radical environmental activists. As it turns out, much of the funding has been coming from professional disrupter George Soros.
Among the organizations receiving Soros funding were Fund for Global Human Rights, Global Greengrants Fund, 350.org, Amnesty International, Avaaz, Color of Change, and People’s Action. Each of these groups has climate-related agendas and goals spanning from reducing global carbon emissions to less than 350 parts per million and 100 percent “clean energy,” to the elimination of new fossil fuel projects and a “green civil rights movement.”
Other major donors have included Democrat presidential candidate Tom Steyer’s NextGen America as well as the Sierra Club, which has reportedly received millions from former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The group 350.org, founded by Bill McKibben in 2008, has fought against coal power in India as well as tried to stop the Keystone XL pipeline in the U.S.
It is not clear how much funding the Global Climate Strike has actually received from these groups or in total. And, of course, Soros’ funding is over 18 years, so the numbers highlighted are not immediately relevant.
But what the investigation does show is how the Strike is being funded by a wide range of left wing foundations, many of which in turn have relied on Soros money at some stage in the past.

I think that Soros is just having fun with his money. What is the use of all that money you earned through Capitalism if you can’t have a laugh and give it to Left wingers. What irony. He’s also funding the Remain campaign if you’re interested.
There is a limit on size of foreign political donations, but the likes of these vastly rich mischief makers, Blair, Branson, Soros and, of course, the EUSSR will easily circumvent such regulations, since money talks, even with a foreign accent.
Using think tanks is a way around the banning of overseas funding of our MPs. The lame legacy media started on it by looking at the New Zealand funded Legatum Institute but made a hash of it by trying to link it to Russian funding so the real scandal was missed.

Soros and his son are both on the ICG board, as is Stephen Kinnock’s missus, former Danish PM, Hella Thorning-Schmidt.
Gina Miller seems to be a beneficiary of Richard Branson, an other Remainer, living abroad, untaxed in the UK, I believe.
With his fossil fuel powered airline wealth and extravagant resource/planet consuming/destroying space tourism program for the selfish ultra-rich elite to pointlessly play at being spacemen.

If Soros really cared about freedom and about democracy, he would be respecting the democratic process. people are free because they have actual choices. People are free because they can afford to cover their fundamental needs and have some spare left. People are free when they can live free from fear. Terror creates fear. And that’s what his political activists create.

As a vegetarian my self, this myth about vegan food being so virtuous bemuses me. A great deal of it is grown abroad. Its transport is by highly polluting ships or by air from the far corners of the world-Avocados being a good example.
in some instances virgin land or forest has been brought into action to grow the stuff. Much is not organic so is sprayed and fertilised with chemicals, much is artificially irrigated and much needs to be dried or frozen before transportation with all that implies.
It then enters the food chain in the UK and goes to giant depots by giant lorries then redistributed by giant lorries to your local shop thousands of miles from its origin
how is all that saving the planet as opposed to buying local food, locally and in season?

Grateful also for the Hitchens article; I usually do agree with much of what he says and this is no exception. Not at all about Gina Miller though – we talked about her at the Swan. Who the hell is she and why does she get so much air time!? Her Wikipedia entry is worth a look (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gina_Miller). Failed attempt at a law degree (at that great place of learning, East London Poly). Her (third) husband is clearly very wealthy. Encouraged by the Blairs, no doubt!

No great surprise to learn this. Such a shame we lack such funding on our side – except for Big Oil and Big Coal of course 😉 – who could have helped Dr Ridd in his fight against being silenced. No doubt a Soros or Steyer would have done if it was the other way round.
